I found you gotta pay attention to big form, attitude (angles) and large relationships in all instances. Animals are a challenge because you are forced to hone memory as well as make the right decisions off the bat. The process I learned is a really good way to get all of the important stuff in at the beginning of the sketch.
I was sure I'd struggle with mech sketches, thought they'd be boring and make a mistake with any of the straights or curves and it would look wonky or melted; A mech fail.
Surprise! I found I actually enjoyed sketching these objects. The clear instruction Peter gave us and his valuable demos made it simple to lay-in and actually draw these angular, ovally objects while enjoying the process. I love drawing trains!
I especially found that I no longer fear the pen (as much).
